Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a well-balanced and legible document, by convertig automatically a full-square character which can be converted to a half-square character, or a half-square character which can be converted to a full-square character, which is in a designated area, to a half-square or full-square character, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A cursor is moved by a cursor movement instruction key in a function key 801, and an area designating key is depressed. When a half-square converting key in the function key 801 is depressed, a system controlling circuit 803 controls at first so that the data of a sentence buffer 804 addressed by a pointerI808 is led to a register 807. Subsequently, its register 807, an addressing circuit 812 of a convertible characrer table memory 811, and a comparing circuit 814 are operated, and whether the data is in coincidence or not is checked. At the next timing, an address of the pointerI808 is compared with that of a pointer II809 by a comparing circuit 810.
