Abstract

PURPOSE:To give periodic plate differences in the rolling direction of a strip by providing a difference in roll diameter in a circumferential direction to any one of work rolls, intermediate rolls and backup rolls. CONSTITUTION:This is basically constituted of a rolling method giving three differential thickness periods. More specifically, the 1st is a case of a relatively long differential thickness period, wherein eccentricity is given positively to either of backup rolls 3, 3' to give a differential thickness period of 1 time per revolution of the backup roll. The 2nd gives a diametral change in the circumferential direction of the backup roll, wherein, for example, the barrel of the backup roll is made elliptical so that twice differential thickness periods are produced in one revolution of the backup roll. The 3rd gives a diametral change in the circumferential direction to the work roll.
