Abstract

PURPOSE:To separate constituents in a specimen with accuracy and without damage to it according to the difference of their coefficients of sedimentation (floating) by constituting around a specified axis a flexible tube for passing a liquid specimen in a curved section and a section of coil shaped revolving body and rotating both sections in a certain ratio of rotation. CONSTITUTION:A flexible tube 1 through which specimen liquid is passed is inserted into a flexible tube 3, and the first intermediate portion 4 and second intermediate portion 6 are bent in opposite directions so that both will not touch each other, and the tube 1 in coil form is supported on a rotating body 2, and the portions 4 and 6 and the rotating body 2 are rotated at speeds W1, W2 and W3 respectively so that the relation expressed by the formula can be met. The portions 4 and 6 are rotated at the same speed, for example at 500rpm, in the mutually opposite directions through a specific combination of pulleys 11 and 13, belts 14 and 23, and gears 18 and 20. With this arrangement the tubes 1 and 3 are kept from twisting, which eliminates necessity of slide section and a specimen (blood, urine, etc.) will not be damaged and it can be centrifugally separated without intrusion of miscellaneous germs.
