Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent cracks by heat welding the specific number of filaments at the cut end which composes the reinforcing layer of steel cord in tyre having a reinforcing layer of steel cords buried in rubber. CONSTITUTION:In order to improve durability and abrasion resistance and low heat producing properties of a pneumatic tyre, reinforcing layers made of steel cords buried in the rubber are formed in a belt layer and a carcass ply chafer. The end of the steel cords are heat welded to prevent cracks on tyre while running due to a local strain on the cut ends. The heat welding prevents the filaments from becoming separated. More than 50% or preferably 80% of all the filaments filaments that compose the steel cords should be heat welded.
