Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate or minimize deformation of tube plates of a multi-tubular condenser, by providing rods which extend through the main body of the condenser for fixing two side water chambers securely. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of strengthening ribs 25a, 25b are fixed on the outer surface of water chamber casings 7a, 7b, and rods 26 having a circular cross section, fixed to the end portions of the strengthening ribs 25a, 25b and located symmetrically to each other, are provided to extend through the main body 4 of a condenser. Further, the rods 26 are welded to a main casing 6 at the end portions of an outer casing 27. Since, by employing such an arrangement, elongation of the rods 26 due to thermal expansion during operation of the condenser is smaller than the elongation of condenser tubes 3, load caused by the hydraulic pressure is acted to the rods 6, so that no load is acted to flange portions 9b, 8b, 10b until elongation of the rods 6 caused by the load becomes equal to the difference of elongation due to thermal expansion. Thus, it is enabled to reduce deformation of the tube plates 8a, 8b to a great extent.
