Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform sterilization and removal of colored contaminant of a contact lens harmlessly in physiology and perfectly by using an aqueous soln. contg. chlorine dioxide (ClO2). CONSTITUTION:Stabilized ClO2 used for drinking water, fruits of the like is dissolved 1-50,000ppm in a physiological salt soln., and a 1 normal HCl soln. is added thereto to control its pH to 4-9. A contaminated contact lens is immersed into this soln. It is sterilized and is removed of yellow contaminants in 3-60hr if at room temp. and 5min-2hr at 60-120 deg.C. ClO2 will not be adsorbed and accumulated by and on the lens and is harmless. If the lens is immersed for 7hr at room temp. in a light-shielded vessel contg. 5ml per piece of the lens of the physiological salt soln. contg., for example about 5,000ppm ClO2, the germ-free lens is obtained.
