Abstract

PURPOSE:To make one unit of the electrophoresis device usable for the various kinds of the electrophotoresis by rearranging the said device. CONSTITUTION:An electrophoresis device is constituted of a migration cell 1, a set of electrode cells 2, 3 in which the buffers are contained, the electrode bars to be put in the respective electrode cells and the gel holding pipes used for the disc electrophoresis. In the case of performing the horizontal electrophoresis, the cell 1 is so arranged that the top plate 12 thereof assumes a horizontal attitude, and the cells 2, 3 are disposed on the right and left of the cell 1. In the case of using this device in the vertical electrophoresis, the cell 1 is so placed that the its bottom surface plate 13 assumes a vertical attitude facing the front, and the cells 2, 3 are fixed to the top and bottom of the plate 13. A gel plate 13 is sandwiched between the plate 13 and the fitting surface 20 of the electrode cells. In the case of using this for the disc electrophoresis, the cell is disposed similarly to that in the vertical electrophoresis, and the top end of the gel holding pipe is fitted to a through-hole 28 formed to the bottom face 27 of the cell 3 on the upper side, and the bottom end of the gel holding pipe is immersed in the buffer in the lower cell 2.
