Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain cyclohexene in high conversion and selectivity, by catalytically decomposing a cyclohexylalkylbenzene in the presence of silica, alumina, alumina supporting an alkali, alumina supporting Mo or silica alumina supporting Mo catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A cyclohexylalkylbenzene, e.g. cyclohexylmesitylene or cyclohexyl(iso)durene, is catalystically decomposed in the presence of a decomposing catalyst, e.g. silica, alumina, alumina supporting an alkali, alumina supporting Mo or silica alumina supporting Mo, to prepare cyclohexene. The alumina supporting the alkali is preferred as the catalyst, and alumina is preferably pretreated with dilute nitric acid, etc. The reaction temperature is 300W500°C, preferably 380W420°C.
