Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a mold for wheels for motorbicycles which is good in the yield of the molten metal, with which the inclusion of the molten slag into the molten metal is difficult and in which the upper melt flow is vulnerable to the generation of the laminar flow by inserting a stainer of the specific construction into the space of a riser provided with a sprue hole in the upper part. CONSTITUTION:A strainer 11 is constituted of a cylindrical frame 12, and is pierced with a required number of through-holes 13 over the entire outside circumferential surface thereof. The fibrous materials 14 such as the steel wool or glass wool are stuffed in the frame 12 over the entire part thereof in the same direction as the molten metal flow direction, that is, in a longitudinal direction. On the other hand, the upper and lateral riser spaces 23, 24 communicating with respective cavities 22 are provided to the upper part and lateral parts of the cavities 22 of a mold 21, and a sprue hole 25 is pierced in the upper part of the space 24. Hence, the space 24 serves also as a sprue. The above-mentioned strainer 11 is inserted into this space 24. Since no sprues are provided separately from the space 24 to this mold, no waste is produced in the molten metal.
