Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce cost needed for an oil leakage detector, by a method wherein the oil leakage detector is arranged close to connecting portion of oil piping and installed detachably to the connecting terminal. CONSTITUTION:Connecting portion of a pipe 6 is wrapped by an oil leakage detecting wire A which is covered by an oil-resistant film 14. A box 12 having a communicating pipe 14 leading to the ground surface encloses the film 14 further, and a connecting terminal 7 of the oil leakage detecting wire A is installed on the ground and a cover 13 is provided thereon. A terminal 9 of a detector 8 is connected to the terminal 7 of the detecting wire A. If oil leaks out of the connecting portion of the pipe 6 and touches the detecting wire A, an oil-soluble material 4 of the detecting wire A is dissolved and open-wires 1, 2 are contacted with each other thereby a pointer of the detector 8 swings and the oil leakage is indicated. Since one detector can inspect a number of portions, cost needed for the detector is reduced.
