Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the runaway of an engine by a method wherein a bypass passage is provided so as to bypass an electromagnetic valve provided in a fuel passage and the fuel is supplied to the engine through only the bypass passage when some trouble is caused in the control system of the fuel injection pump. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary passage 30, to serve as a passage bypassing a main passage 29, and the main passage 29 are formed on the way of a fuel passage 28 for introducing the fuel from a fuel tank 24 to an inlet port 1 for a feed pump 3 while the electromagnetic valve 31 to open or close the main passage is provided in the main passage 29. Provided on the way of the auxiliary passage 30 is an orifice 34 having a predetermined opening area. In operation, the electromagnetic valve 31 is fully opened under a normal driving and the fuel pressurized by the feed pump 3 is introduced into the pump chamber 5 through a pressure regulating valve 4. On the other hand, when some trouble is caused in the control system of the fuel injection pump, the charging of the electromagnetic valve 31 is cut by releasing an emergency switch, the same valve 31 is closed totally and thereby supplying some flow rate of the fuel, which is regulated by the orifice 34, into the pump chamber 5.
