Abstract

PURPOSE:A foamable composition for the oral cavity having especially improved appearance of paste and feeling in use, obtained by filling an aerosol container with the paste consisting of an abrasive, binder, viscosity builder made essentially of sorbitol, activator, and water as main ingredients, and carbon dioxide gas. CONSTITUTION:A paste consisting of an abrasive, binder, viscosity builder made essentially of sorbitol, activator, and water as main ingreidients, having a viscosity preferably 20-400 poise, is prepared. An aerosol container is filled with the paste and carbon dioxide gas, to give a composition for the oral cavity which is jetted and foamed in use. The use of sorbitol as the main viscosity builder characteristically improves the appearance of the foamable paste and feeling in use. The addition of a nonionic surface active agent, e.g., fatty acid diethanolamide, etc. as the activator, can improve further feeing in use. The composition is usable as a toothpaste, mouthwash agent, etc.
