Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily adjust the width of a thin sheet by providing slide parts which seal the end of a broad nozzle and are movable in the axial direction of a rotary drum to the nozzle end on the side opposing to the drum.
CONSTITUTION: The bottom end of a nozzle opposing to a rotary drum 1 immerses into the molten metal 3 in a melting furnace 4, and the top end thereof consists of an immersion nozzle 20 extending to above the furnace 4, and a tip nozzle 21 provided on the upper side of said immersion nozzle. Both are mounted in the upper part of the furnace 4 by a nozzle holder 22. Slide plates 23 which are movable in the axial direction of the drum 1 by driving devices 24 are held in a sealed state to the top end of the nozzle 21, and an R type groove is formed to the end on the nozzle center side of each plate 23. The plates 23 are made of refractories such as, for example, Al2O3. The plates 23 are moved respectively independently, and are moved in the arbitrary positions in the axial direction of the drum 1, whereby the thin sheet of prescribed width is produced.
