Abstract

PURPOSE: When an acrylonitirile polymer is made into fiber from its nitric acid solution by the wet method, the fiber gel coagulated in the nitric acid bath is treated with another specific nitric acid bath to produce the titled fiber with improved humid-heat deformation on dyeing and with good physical properties.
CONSTITUTION: An acrylonitrile polymer containing more than 80wt% acrylonitrile is dissolved in a nitric acid solvent such as about 55W80% nitric acid aqueous solution at a temperature lower than 20°C to form a spinning dope containing 10W25% polymer. The resultant dope is extruded into the first bath (coagulation bath) containing 10W50% nitric acid to form fiber gel. The resultant fiber gel is treated with the second bath whose nitric acid concentration is equal to or higher than the first bath at higher temperature to give the objective fiber. Preferably, the nitric acid concentration of the second bath is less than 55%, the treating temperature is lower than 60°C, time is 5secW10min.
