Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable retrieval of failure from any of incoming/outgoing relay line, by using one narrow band BPF with a failure retrieval signal folded from a line having an output at a turning amplifier to another line. CONSTITUTION:A failure retrieval signal in modulation frequency f1 of an incoming relay line is given to a comparator 22 via an NRZ/RZ converter 2, a tuning amplifier 6 and an NBPF21 and a comparison output is applied to an AND gate 14 when the signal exceeds a reference level. Further, the output of the amplifier 6 is applied to a gate 14 via a comparator 8. An output of an LD failure detecting circuit 10 is applied to the gate 14. Thus, a signal f1 is transmitted to the incoming relay line of the gate 14, and an output is generated if no failure is taken place in a light emitting element of the incombing relay line, the signal f1 is transmitted to an outgoing line from an LD driving circuit 5' and the folding of the modulation signal of the signal f1 is made. When the signal f1 is transmitted to the outgoing relay line, folding is made similarly to the incoming relay line.
