Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of abrasion and to improve electric conductivity up to the practicable area by using a tin-containing alloy as a copper alloy. CONSTITUTION:This trolley wire is made up of an copper alloy wherein tin of 0.25-0.35% by weight is contained and the residue is composed of inevitable impurities and copper and provides two grooves or projections 3 in the direction of the length on a small arc surface 2. In addition, these grooves 3.3 are used to identify, when the trolley wire is in use or has been used into scrap, that the material is a Cu-Sn alloy. This identification is necessary because tin reduces electric conductivity when this trolley wire is mixed with normal copper trolley wire, especially, in remelting used material.
