Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve resistance to crack and peeling-off of the layer of fine grinding particles of an electroformed cutter for cutting and fluting glass, super- hard brittle materials, etc. by bonding electrically the fine grinding particles in their metallic plating and forming their uniform layer. CONSTITUTION:A mold is formed by applying an insulation paint 3 to all over an electrode plate 1 except on the part where the cathode plate 2 is formed. By using this mold fine grinding particle layer (comprising diamond grinding particles, etc.) on the peeled-off layer of the cathode plate 2. Next, the mold is electrolyzed in a plating bath which comprises copper, nickel or their alloys to form a plating layer that reaches the peeling-off layer of the cathode plate 2 through the fine grinding particle layer. The composite layer consisting of the fine grinding particle layer that is bonded by this plating layer and the plating layer is peeled off from the cathode plate 2 to obtain an electroformed cutter that possesses a fine grinding particle layer and is superior in resistance to cracks and peeling-off.
