Abstract

PURPOSE: Granule for weeding alleviating extremly browning symptoms of leaf sheath of rice plant without damaging herbicidal effect, obtained by adding a specific allaying agent against phytotoxicity to an inert carrier and an effective amount of biphenox.
CONSTITUTION: One of (A) an anionic surface agent such as sodium dedecylbenzenesulfonate, (B) a solidifying agent such as guar gum, alginic acid, etc., (C) a water-absorbing agent such as one obtained by grafting starch onto a raw material, and (D) epoxy resin as an allaying agent against phytotoxicity is added to an inert carrier and biphenox shown by the formula: chemical name 2,4- dichlorophenyl-3'-carbomethoxy-4'-nitrophenyl ether, exhibiting improved herbicidal effect on a wide range of weeds when applied under flooded conditions. The amount of the allaying agent against phytotoxicity in the granule is about 0.1W3wt%, to attain the purpose.
