CONSTITUTION:When an overlapped part of an upper picture and a lower picture is compounded by dividing a graphic pattern into upper and lower part, and split- inputting a picture, a correlative function D for matching the upper picture and the lower picture is defined. In a minimum value detecting circuit 15, an absolute value of a difference between a minimum value of D and the next minimum value of D is calculated, its result is outputted to a comparing and selecting circuit 16, its output is compared with a constant which has been decided in advance, and an address value of the upper and lower overlapped part to be compounded is derived. A compounding circuit 17 constitutes an AND circuit of an output of the circuit 16 and an overlapping circuit 14, and compounds a graphic pattern in accordance with an output of the circuit 16.
