Abstract
PURPOSE:To make welding of materials of different kinds satisfactorily by placing a tubular material higher in heat conductivity than a base plate perpendicularly to the base plate and irradiating a laser beam so as to make the heat energy of laser beam at the weld zone greater in the base plate side. CONSTITUTION:A copper pipe 1 is held perpendicular to a steel plate 3 on which a hole 2 having a diameter nearly equal to the outer diameter of a copper pipe 1 is drilled, by inserting the copper pipe into the hole 2. A laser beam converged by a condenser lens 5 is irradiated to a weld zone 4 at the boundary between the copper pipe 1 and the steel plate 3. At this time, the energy of laser beam at the center C of the spot including nearby place is brought to the steel plate side. It is desirable to set the irradiation angle theta within 15 degrees by setting the central axis of the copper pipe 1 to a reference. By this way, materials of different kind can be welded satisfactorily.
