Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent any crack generation, which might be developed due to the tension stress, by inserting a cathode-ray tube into a heated strained band while the said band is rapidly cooled. CONSTITUTION:A cathode-ray tube 24 around which a tape 26 is wound is inserted into a strained band 27 which is heated and expanded by means of a circular burner 29. At the same time, a high pressure air 32 sent from plural holes 31 of a circular pipe 30 is blown on the contact between the band 27 and a side wall 23 so as to make the band 27 to be cooled. As a result, any tension stress which might be developed near the periphery of the side wall 23 is prevented, and thereby generation of cracks is decreased.
