Abstract

PURPOSE: To completely inhibit freezing and adherence of condensed water, by feeding gaseous composition, which is adjusted so that the volume ratio of an organic solvent to water in condensed liquid will be in a specified range, to a condenser.
CONSTITUTION: Gaseous composition containing an organic solvent to water is adjusted so that the volume ratio of the organic solvent to water in liquid to be condensed on the cooling surface of a condenser will be 70 or more, preferably 75 or more, by a method such as preheating the gaseous composition at a relatively lower temperature but higher than 0°C with an additional condenser and separating the condensed liquid. Thereafter, the treated gas is fed into the condenser. As a result, the organic solvent can be recovered by cooling the gas at a desired temperature lower than 0°C but higher than the solidification point of the organic solvent. In this case, the organic solvent may include methylene chloride or the like, most of which is condensed by cooling the gas at a temperature lower than 0°C under an ordinary pressure, in general.
