Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve a spatial filtering device where the observer can seek the optimum filtering characteristics suited to a character of a picture in a short time, by the spatial filtering using a reflection type space filter rewritable in real time. CONSTITUTION:Monochroic light 2 is incident to an input picture 1 placed on an object 0, it passes through a half mirror 7 and Fourier transformation is made at a lens 3. The Fourier-transformed image is filtered at a space filter 8 of reflection type placed on a Fourier transformation plane F, the reflected image is passed through the lens 3 again subjected to inverse-Fourier-transformation reflected on the half mirror 7, and projected on a screen 6 placed on an image I. The space filter 8 is an element to display an optical pattern in which a part of the Fourier transformation image is reflected and other parts are absorbed and scattered, and the element is made of an optical storage material which enables rewrite of the pattern through external heat, electric field, laser beam scanning and the like.
