Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a sensor of superior activity, durability, etc. by covering the surface of an electrode with a mixture of ice blocks contg. enzyme or microbes and an org. solvent wherein a water-insoluble high polymer is dissolved, and removing the solvent thereby enclosing the enzyme or microbes into the high polymer matrix. CONSTITUTION:The ice blocks obtained by such a method of blowing water contg. enzyme or microbes such as mold, germs or the like into hexane of -70 deg.C and forming micro-ice blocks are filtered and are slurried in CH2Cl2. A CH2Cl2 soln. or the like wherein a water-insoluble high polymer such as cellulose acetate and which is cooled to <=0 deg.C is separately prepd. and said slurry is added into said soln., whereby a coating soln. is prepd. Said coating soln. is coated on the exposed part of an electrode 1 in the leading end part from the coated part of the insulator 4 of a barlike electrode (platinum wire or the like) 1, and the coating film is allowed to solidify in a cooling toluene bath. Next, the toluene is extracted away with an n-hexane, after which the ice blocks are thawed whereby the electrode coated with the cellulose acetate film of about 100mu thickness is obtained. In this way, the sensor virtually free from degradation in activity for a long period of time is obtained.
