Abstract

PURPOSE:A powdery dentifrice, prepared by mixing a crude salt with a dried powder obtained by drying a powdering plant fibers consisting of wild grass, e.g. chickweed, as a principal component in such a state as not to damage the chlorophyll with stirring, and consisting of a natural material useful for the prevention of pyorrhea or carious teeth. CONSTITUTION:Plant fibers, e.g. wild grass, preferably chickweed or comfrey, as a principal component are dried not to damage the chlorophyll and then pulverized into powder. The resultant powder as a principal component is mixed with a crude salt at a weight ratio of 4:1 with stirring, and pulverized by a suitable method, e.g. a ball mill or motor-driven mortar, to give a powdery dentifrice having a particle size of about 80-200 mesh. The resultant dentifrice exhibits improved sterilizing effect on carious teeth of the wild grass and anti-inflammatory and hemostatic effect, removes the foul breath due to the large amount of the chlorophyll and inhibits the growth of injurious germs. The crude salt contained shows the sterilizing effect and hemostatic effects synergistically and exhibits the remarkable effect on the prevention of pyorrhea and carious teeth.
