CONSTITUTION:A filamentary pitch fiber Y1 continuously spinned from a spinning nozzle 3 is sucked by an air sucker 5, through a disturbance preventive tube 4 and feed roller 6, and cut into a short fiber y2 of fixed dimensions by a cutting device 8. The cut short fiber Y2 falls down in a guide tube 7 and is dropped and placed on a conveyer belt 9. At this time, air is sucked from a suction port 10 in the rear side of the belt, then the short fiber Y2 can be placed on a surface of the belt without disorder. Then the short fiber Y2 falls down from an end part of the conveyer 9, and is housed dropping into a case 15, longitudinally operating shuttle motion, through a carrying conveyer 14 moved turning to the direction at a right angle with the conveyer 9. And then short fiber Y2 in the case 15 is applied with carbonization treatment.
