Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent collision between a load on a fork and a load on a rack by providing a stacker crane with a detector of the load on the rack along with a detector of a position of vertical motion of the fork so that starting and stoppage of fork motion may be controlled. CONSTITUTION:When an elevator 4 is on an upper level and a rack 8 is loaded, a previously loaded article detector 16 is turned on and a contact 35 of a previously loaded article detecting relay is opened. Under this condition, even if a right projecting button switch 23 for a fork 6 at a predetermined position is turned on, relay 27 for projecting a fork rightward is not energized and the fork 6 is prevented from projecting rightward because a contact 32 of a relay is opened due to a fork center detector 14 being turned on and a contact 33 of the relay is opened due to a lower level detector 13 being opened. If said rack 8 is not loaded at this time, since a contact 35 of the relay is turned on, relay 27 is turned on by closing a switch 23 and the fork 6 may be shifted rightward.
