Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high resolution or a wide visual field by a method wherein a scanning type laser radar performing the target detection by scanning the visual field the transmission direction of the laser and the direction of the reception instantaneous visual field are offset and the offset angle thereof is made variable to be of high data rate. CONSTITUTION:The output beam of a laser 1 is shaped into a fan beam to be then transmitted through a beam splitter 2, X-Y scanner 3 and a telescope. Through a reflector 10 mounted on a polarizer 11 the direction of a reception instantaneous visual field is offset by an angle theta0 along the scanning direction 14 against the transmission direction of the laser. At this time the speed of the scanning angle is given by thetar/Rd so that only the reflected light from a target in the range of the distance R1-R2 shown by a formula is obtained as an output of a detector 5. Thereby the maximum detection distance can be selected independently from the number of picture elements N and a frame rate F to form a laser radar of a high data rate and the high resolution or a wide visual field. In the formula rd denotes the dwell time per picture element corresponding to the reception instantaneous visual field while rt denotes the transit time.
