Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve an excellent picture by automatically reducing chroma noise at weak electric field district, through the control of an overall gain of a chroma signal system added with a color saturation control circuit and the like to a TV receiver having an AGC circuit at a chrominance carrier signal amplifying stage. CONSTITUTION:A gain control voltage (a) from an existing AGC circuit 5 changes in proportion to the electric field strength and the level is compared with a reference signal (c) from a voltage source 16 at a comparison circuit 15. When (a)>(c), a prescribed DC voltage (b) is outputted to keep the gain of a chrominance signal amplifying circuit 11 constant. On the other hand, if the electric field strength is smaller than the reference value, a voltage proportional to an input gain control voltage is outputted, the polarity and level are adjusted via a color saturation control circuit 17, and applied to the circuit 11 to control the gain so that it is proportional to the electric field strength. As a result, the overall gain of the chroma signal system circuit is constant when the electric field strength is greater than the set value, and is gradually decreased, when smaller. Thus, chroma noise at a weak electric field area can automatically be reduced, allowing to decrease the deterioration in video quality.
