Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the electromagnetic force faults in horizontally arranged Al-electrolyzing furnaces and to decrease the voltage drop in circuits in said furnace by introducing the electric currents derived from respective cathode bars to the conductive terminals of the corresponding respective anodes in the adjacent furnace in the current down flow direction of the system.
CONSTITUTION: Respective anode carbons 5 are suspended from anode arms 11 via anode terminals 13 by means of clamping devices 12, and are moved upward and downward perpendicularly along guide posts 15 by means of a screw type hoist. The electric currents flowing through the arms 11, the terminals 13, the carbons 5, an electrolytic bath 6, metals 7, cathode carbons 8 and cathode bars 9 are flowed through a cathode flexible 29 and an equalizer 30 to the arm bus 31 and anode arms of the adjacent furnace in the current down flow direction. In this way, the intensity of magnetic field of the bath 6 layer and metal 7 layer in the Al electrolyzing furnaces as well as the horizontal currents in their longitudinal direction are decreased, whereby electromagnetic force faults are eliminated, and the voltage drop of the circuits is reduced by the reduction of the current circuits.
