Abstract

PURPOSE:To utilize the space of a cassette container by constituting an opening through which the capstan of a small-sized cassette dedicated machine is received when a small-sized tape cassette is loaded in the small-sized cassette dedicated machine to be used. CONSTITUTION:A small-sized cassette A is attached to an adapter B to link the cut part 38 of the small-sized cassette A to the opening 125 of the adapter B. When the adapter B containing this cassette A is loaded in a standard type recording and reproducing device, a generation source for detecting a tape end provided in the device is inserted in the cut part 38 smoothly. Then, the cut part 38 serves as an insertion hole for a capstan 135 when the cassette A is used in a small-sized cassette dedicated recorder and reproducer, and when the cassette contained in the adapter B is used in the standard type recorder and reproducer, it is used as an insertion hole for the generation source.
