Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the presence or absence of liquid readily by the variation in the amount of received light, by providing three sheets of transparent plates in a triangular prism shape, providing a light emitting element on one surface, and providing a light receiving element on another surface. CONSTITUTION:The transparent plates 1 made of glass, synthetic resin, and the like are provided in a triangular prism shape. The light emitting element 2 such as a lamp and a light emitting diode are provided on one surface, and the light receiving element 3 such as phototransistor is provided on another surface. When the liquid is not present, the light from the light emitting element 2 is uniformly scattered and most of the light does not reach the light receiving element 3. Meanwhile, when the liquid 4 is present, the light from the light emitting element 2 reaches the light receiving element through the medium of the liquid 4. Therefore the presence or absence of the liquid 4 can be recognized by the variation in the amount of the received light.
