Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase response speed of a liquid crystal and to cause brightness of a fluorescent light lamp to reach its maximum value in a moment by a printer wherein temperatures of the fluorescent light lamp and a liquid crystal light valve are detected and they are heated or cooled in accordance with thus detected values to maintain proper temperatures therefor. CONSTITUTION:A light irradiating system for a printer wherein a light signal is irradiated on a light conductor 15 and this is developped with tonors so as to obtain picture informations, comprises a fluorescent light lamp 11, a liquid crystal light valve (liquid crystal shutter cell) 13, lens systems 12, 14 and a liquid crystal driving circuit 16. The fluorescent light lamp 11 and the liquid crystal light valve 13 are provided with temperature detectors, respectively, and heating and cooling means are provided to maintain the fluorescent light lamp and the liquid crystal light valve at the respective proper temperatures in accordance with the detected values.
