Abstract

PURPOSE: A composition useful for a foamed material elastic fiber, paint, adhesive, artificial leather, etc., having enhanced light resistance without detriment to the original characteristics of a urethane polymer, which is prepd. by compounding the urethane polymer with a specified azophenyl compd.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. urethane polymer is compounded with 0.01W20pts.wt. azophenyl compd. of the formula (wherein A is O, S, CH2 SO2 or NH; R1WR9 and R1'WR9' are each independently H, halogen, amino, carboxyl, methoxy, nitro or lower alkyl, where not all R1WR5 and R1'WR5' are H at the same time) and, if necessary, with a UV absorbent and antioxidant, to obtain the title urethane composition. The azophenyl compd. is incorporated in the urethane polymer or urethane-forming system in the form of a solid or a solution, or adsorbed to an adsorbent such as alumina.
