Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high image resolution point group, by setting plural ultrasonic oscillators in the travelling direction of the waveguide beam and at the same time allotting the adjacent ultrasonic oscillators alternately at both sides of the waveguide beam. CONSTITUTION:An image resolution point group is shifted to a positionIby supplying the power to an oscillator 15A from an oscillator 14 and sweeping the frequency from the central value by a microband width. Then the image resolution point group comes to a position II by sweeping an oscillator 15B by a microband width without supply of the power to the oscillator 15A. The oscillator 15A is fixed at the central frequency, and the oscillator 15B is swept by a microband width to shift the image resolution point group to the position II. In such a way, the oscillators 15A and 15B of the same characteristics are installed in parallel and as opposed to each other, and accordingly just one unit of the matching circuit suffices for the input impedance. Furthermore no reduction is caused to the light coupling efficiency since the relative function of light is caused only by the elastic surface waves generated from the oscillators 15A and 15B to cause the Bragg diffraction.
