Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure a high sensitivity and a longer life of a Karman's vortex generator body with a simple construction by arranging it vertical to the flow of a fluid being measured to be connected to a magnet strictive element. CONSTITUTION:When a fluid 12 to be measured flows vertically, a Karman's vortex is generated with a Karman's vortex generator body 14, which receives an alternate load in the direction of the arrow 34 and 36 due to a pressure difference by th Karman's vortex. This load applys a stress of reduction and tension alternately on magnetostrictive elements 20a and 20b. When the elements 20a and 20b undergo the reduction and tension stress, a villari effect varies the magnetization curve thereof. The detection of the frequency of the variations per unit time clarifies the frequency of the Karman's vortex. The variations of the magnetization curve can be detected in terms of the changes in the magnetic permeability. The impedance of coils 22a and 22b varies inversely and unbalanced current flows throug an ammeter 38. The polarity of the current is discriminated with a built-in diode 40 thereby highly facilitating electric treatment in the subsequent stage.
