Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an aural output directly from the digital signal, by providing plural units of the drive winding to drive a diaphragm in accordance with the number of bits of the input digital signal. CONSTITUTION:A motor-driven speaker 1 consists of a speaker cone 2 which functions as a diaphragm, a voice coil 3 connected to the cone 2, a permanent magnet 4 which functions as a stator magnet set opposite to the coil 3 and a stator 5 which forms a magnetic circuit. The coil 3 contains windings 3a, 3b and 3c to be opposite to each bit of the 3-bit digital signal. The winding 3a is set opposite to an LSB with the number of turns set at 1, and the number of turns is set for the windings as 3a:3b:3c=1:2:4. These windings are connected between an earth and a constant voltage source through switches 7a, 7b and 7c which are turned on and off by the bits a1, a2 and a3 of the digital input signal (a) plus a switch 8 for deglitch respectively. In such way, an aural output which requires no analog part is obtained.
