Abstract

PURPOSE: In a paper feeder of small printer for printing the character, to eliminate the noise by engaging a paper feed roller through a drive member where a coil spring is inserted rotatably over a drive shaft and an uni-directional clutch.
CONSTITUTION: When printing, a drive shaft 1 will rotate in I direction and a print head 11 will print while moving in G direction. After printing the shaft 1 is inverted in J direction to increase the frictional force against the coil spring 15, to transmit the torque to an inverted gear 14 thus to rotate in J direction thereby the nail 17a of a nail wheel 17 is stopped by a stopper thus to loose the coil spring 15 and to reduce the frictional force thereby the inverted gear 14 is stopped. When the gear 14 is rotating by the angle θ in J direction, the paper feed gear 19 will rotate in L direction to increase the frictional force between the coil spring 20 and the shaft 7 thereby the shaft 7 and the roller 13 will rotate by predetermined amount in L direction. Since the inverted gear 14 is not rolled but stopped at both rotatable ends, it causes no noise due to the collision.
