Abstract

PURPOSE: A specific fluorescent substance of oxide composite activated with Mn is mixed with Co, Ni or others and they are calcined at high temperature to produce a fluorescent substance with superlinear luminescent brightness characteristics to the energy change in the electron beams.
CONSTITUTION: The objective substance is composed of (A) the inner layer of a fluorescent substance of oxide composite activated with Mn of the formula (A ranges from 0.8 to 2.2; a ranges from 0 to 1; b from 0 to 1) and of (B) the outer layer of a mixture of the same fluorescent substance with co and/or Ni a killer. When the fluorescent substance is produced, for example, the fluorescent substance of the above formula is mixed with (a) a simple substance of Co and/or another simple substance of Ni, (b) a Co compound and/or a Ni compound or (c) at least one selected from components (a) and (b) and the resultant mixture is calcined at 700W1,500°C.
USE: The substance is suitably used for penetration-type CRT.
