Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a text file, by holding newly the supplied hand-written character at a holding means in case the hand-written character is not identical with the hand-written character which is already held according to the features of the character. CONSTITUTION:A feature extracting part 2 extracts the key points of the feature by a hand-written character signal delivered from a tablet 1 to produce a feature data. A comparator part 3 compares the feature data with the feature code stored at an individual code file part 4. When no coincidence is obtained through the comparison, the individual code is applied to the hand-written character. Then the features of the character are stored in the part 4, and at the same time the same code is applied also to the character pattern. The character pattern is then stored at an individual character form file part 6 and an individual character form producing/holding part 9. In this case, the individual code is stored in a text file 10 and displayed at a display part 7 based on the pattern stored at the holding part. In case a coincidence is obtained through the above-mentioned comparison, only the individual code is stored at the part 10.
