Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the inexpensive digital thermometer to be manufactured in the case a resistor-to-be-measured having temperature dependence like thermistor and a strandard resistor are discharged through a common capacitor, by directly comparing and operating the discharge characteristics of the two. CONSTITUTION:The resistor-to-be-measured and the standard resistor are connected to the common capacitor, and the characteristics at the discharge are compared and the resistance is measured. For example, a power source 1, the resistor- to-be-measured 2, and the standard resistor 4 are connected to the common capacitor 7 via switching circuits 3, 5 and 6 and a discharge resistor 18. Then, the time required to discharge through each resistor so as to obtain the constant voltage drop is counted by two comparators 8 and 9 and a counter 11, and the results are inputted to registers 12 and 13. Then said results are compared and operated in an operating part 14, and the desired resistance value or the temperature value is obtained and displayed in a display part 15. In this case the manufacturing cost in greatly reduced by the utilization of a microcomputer.
