Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a titled rolling mill which can correct the shape defects causing quarter elongation and middle elongation at the same time, by constituting the backup rolls in contact with work rolls of a variable crown roll having a single pressure space and a variable crown roll having pressure spaces divided to a plurality. CONSTITUTION:A multiplex type rolling mill, mainly of 3-6-triple and particularly quadruple type is constituted as follows: One backup roll of this mill is constituted of a variable crown roll B having an independent pressure chamber 3. The other backup roll is constituted of a variable crown roll B having plural pressure chambers 3a, 3b. It is preferable to provide roll benders JB, JW, J'W to the ancillary equipment of this mill. With such constitution, the rolling mill which can correct the shape defects causing simultaneously the quarter elongation and middle elongation as well as edge elongation which are infeasible to correct with conventional techniques is obtained.
