Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the pincushion graphic distortion on a picture which is caused by a collimating lens and obtain color picture quality free of color ununiformity by forming horizontal and vertical deflection magnetic field shapes into a barrel type distortion magnetic field shape and equalizing both quantities. CONSTITUTION:The horizontal and vertical deflection magnetic field shapes of a deflection yoke are formed as shown in Figures (a) and (b). The axis of abscissa indicates the deflection magnetic field shape. The plus side is the pincushion magnetic field and the minus side is the barrel magnetic field. The axis of ordinate indicates the coil length and zero is the center of the coil. Thus suppose that the area enclosed by the axis of ordinate and the deflection magnetic field shape curve is S6 in Fig. (a), the horizontal deflection magnetic field distortion SH is S6. Similarly, supposing that the area enclosed by the axis of ordinate and the magnetic field shape curve is S7-S9, the vertical deflection magnetic field distortion SV is SV=S7+S9-S8. By forming the deflection magnetic field shape of horizontal and vertical deflection coils into the barrel distortion, the barrel scanning distortion on the target surface which is caused by a collimating lens can be eliminated and the scanning error failure of a color filter be minimized.
