Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent tube terminals from getting black by enclosing activating gas, mercury, iron, and halogen within a luminous tube, together with at least either zirconium or titanium. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2, 2 are provided at both ends of a luminous tube 1. These electrodes 2, 2 are connected to lead wires 5, 5 through metal foil conductors 4, 4 which are sealed in crush seal sections 3, 3 of the luminous tube 1. Activating gas, mercury, iron, and halogen are enclosed within the luminous tube, together with at least either zirconium or titanium.
