Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a human body from unpleasant feeling, although it touches a transfer belt during the treatment of the paper jam, etc., by quickly attenuating the potential charged to the transfer belt to a degree yet incapable of transcription. CONSTITUTION:A transfer belt 9 consists of a conductive layer 14 and an insulated layer 15 which is polymerized on the outer circumference surface of the layer 14 by the dipping. For the layer 14, the carbon is contained in the polychloroprene rubber for instance to obtain a resistance factor of about 10<3>OMEGAcm for example. For the layer 15, no attenuation is given less than the transcribable potential within the time required from the normal charging of the charged potential of a transcribing charger, e.g., in a second, and the time of reduction is comparatively short, e.g., in 30sec. Thus the charged potential of the layer 15 is attenuated in such way as to avoid the incapability of transcription. As a result, if paper jam, is caused in the period from the charging to the transcription, it is easily treated.
