Abstract
PURPOSE:To analyze simply and accurately, by measuring the variation of open- circuit voltage of metal depending upon the concentration of a halogen molecule. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode side cell roomIis constituted by a glass cylinder 12 havin an air hole 11 on a part of the side wall and a platinum plate or carbon rod electrode 1 arranged in the cylinder 12 and also, a negative electrode side cell room II is constituted by a glass cylinder 32 having a separator 5 composed of a cation exchange membrane or porous membrane for preventing an invasion of halogen molecule at the bottom and an electrode 3 arranged in the cylinder 32 in a negative electrode liquid 4. The electrode 3 is a metallic plate e.g. a zinc plate and the liquid 4 is an aqueous solution containing metallic ion e.g. an aqueous solution of zinc bromide. On occasion of being the concentration of halogen low, voltage in proportion to a logarithm of a concentration X2 shown by formula is generated.
