Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable changing of a head drive region to the size of a recording paper, by a method wherein a range of a recording paper whereon a heat-sensitive recording is performed is decided, and a record signal, fed to a thermal recording head according to the results, is controlled. CONSTITUTION:Cassette 41-43 trays housing, for example, No.4 recording paper in A-row, No.4 recording paper in B-row, and No.5 recording paper in D-row, and through contacting of projections 41B-43B on the sides of the cassettes with second microswitches 46-48 at a cassette setting stand 44, the standard of the recording papers housed therein is decided. If a decision result 32 outputted from a decoder 49 is fed to first and second reset times 51 and 52, it attains a H or L level after a time T1 or T2, corresponding to the decision result 32, has elapsed, and a control signal 56 for recording time corresponding to the decision is outputted to decide a recording time H according to the standard.
