Abstract

The bias of the polarity by which the developer is shifted from the roller 12 to 13 at times other than the developing time is applied between the rollers 12 and 13 from a DC power source 16, and after the developer is shifted from the roller 12 to 13, a cleaning member 17 is abutted on the roller 12 in the state that the bias is held applied, whereby the components giving adverse influence to development contained in the developer are removed.
