Abstract

PURPOSE:To promote the use efficiency of shelf space in the storage system of an automatic warehouse with storage shelves and stacker cranes by adopting twin fork devices for the stacker cranes and equipping the storage shelves with additional support ends. CONSTITUTION:This automatic warehouse installation is equipped with twin type double fork devices. In this construction, goods are stored in and taken out from a storage shelf 1 by the vertical operation of an elevating body 14 of an elevator 12 and the extension and contraction of fork devices 13 and 23 to the shelf 1. At this stage, the fork device 23 is placed on a gate-frame-shaped twin-form support base 24 provided on the elevating body 14 to be detachable. Meanwhile, the shelf 1 is provided with additional support ends 26 between conventional support ends 15 for storing a small-sized storage bucket 32b placed on a pallet 27. This construction permits to store large-sized goods 32a or a storage bucket 32b containing parts or the like.
