Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the creep distance of an insulating block without special means by providing a notch in a wedge in the vicinity of the tip of a slot insulator whose cross sectional area is of a U shape, and inserting the tip of the slot insulator into said notch. CONSTITUTION:The slot insulator 5 whose cross sectional area is of a U shape is used for insulating a rotor winding 2 against the ground and provided so as to cover the side of the insulating block 3. The approximately circularly shaped notch 9 is provided in the wedge 4 in the vicinity of the tip of the slot insulator 5. The tip of the slot insulator 5 is protruded into said notch. A slot insulating cover 7 is provided to cover the protruded slot insulator 5 in the notch 9. Thus, said notch 9 is provided in the wedge 4 and at the tip of the slot insulator 5. Since the maximum stress is applied to the part (b) of the dovetail shaped wedge 4, the notch 9 is provided at the part other than the part (b). In this constitution, the creep distance of the insulating block is increased, and the reliability can be enhanced.
